The length of each HMC Home Care visit depends on the type of service that is being provided. For example, meal preparation may only take 30 minutes, while bathing, grooming and dressing in the morning may take an hour or two. Each visit is individually tailored to address client's specific needs. Rather than paying for a caregiver to sit around in between tasks, our visits are focused on providing the care needed in the most efficient way.

Q: What is Home Health Care?

The term “home health care” describes a wide range of services that can be provided in your home. There are a number of reasons that someone may need care at home. Some may be recovering from surgery or have a chronic condition or disability that requires ongoing care. Others need some assistance with activities of daily living.

Q: What services does HMC Home Care offer?

Our trained caregivers offer a broad range of services to clients in the comfort of their own homes. From personal services like bathing, grooming and help with dressing to meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, transportation to appointments as well as companionship the HMC Home Care staff is there to keep clients comfortable and safe while living as independently as possible at home.

Q: Is care available 24/7?

HMC Home Care has caregivers available to suit the needs of our clients, whether it is infrequent visits or 24 hour care each day. We work with clients to make sure we set the optimal schedule to meet their requirements to keep them comfortable and safe.

Q: Can I choose when my visits are scheduled?

During the initial Care Assessment, we will work with you to choose which windows of time best suit your schedule and preferences. Schedules may vary week to week and are dependent on the type of services you are receiving.

Q: Will the same caregivers be there at each visit?

In general, the HMC Home Care team consists of 3–4 professional caregivers—a Care Supervisor and a Licensed Nurse—who work together to provide the highest quality of care to each client. An alert is sent before each visit to let you know which team member is on their way.

Q: What kind of training do the caregivers receive?

Every HMC Home Care caregiver is a registered by the state of Hawaii. They must pass a comprehensive background check cleared by the Department of Social Services, the FBI and the Department of Justice. Every caregiver is CPR and First Aid Certiﬁed and is provided extensive training, with expertise ranging from companion care to specialty care.

Q: Can the HMC Home Care staff provide medical care?

HMC Home Care staff does not provide medical services, but we work with many partners across the healthcare community who can help provide the right care at the right time. Some of these services include nursing care, physical therapy, speech therapy and more. You are assigned a dedicated Care Manager who can help coordinate with other providers, such as home health and hospice.
